April 2014 - Alaska Airlines Magazine April 2014 issue features an article by Eric Gold titled "Biofuels Take Flight" detailing Alaska Air Group's continuing commitment to sustainable-fuel development and its agreement with Hawai`i BioEnergy to supply locally sourced aviation biofuels for its Hawai`i flights within five years of regulatory approval, starting as soon as fall 2018.

October 14, 2013 -  The State of Hawaii's Energy Office commends a new fuel contract between Hawaiian Electric Company and Hawaii BioEnergy recently approved by the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission. The agreement calls for Hawaiian Electric to purchase approximately 10 million gallons of locally produced biofuels annually from Hawaii BioEnergy over 20 years for the utility's Kahe Power Plant.

August 1, 2013 - U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Moniz announced nearly $16.5 million in new investments to four projects in Hawai`i, California and New Mexico aimed at breaking down the technical barriers and accelerating the development of sustainable, affordable algae biofuels. The projects include a $5 million DOE investment to Hawai`i BioEnergy to develop a cost-effective photosynthetic open pond system to produce algal oil at their facility based in Lihue, Kauai. The project will also demonstrate preprocessing technologies that reduce energy use and the overall cost of extracting lipids and producing fuel intermediates.

July 24, 2013 - Alaska Airlines and Hawai`i BioEnergy LLC announced today they have signed an agreement for the carrier to purchase sustainable biofuel for its aircraft. Alaska Airlines is Hawai`i BioEnergy's second customer, and the first airline to sign a contract. Hawaiian Electric Company previously announced it had agreed to purchase 10 million gallons of fuel a year from Hawai`i BioEnergy for power generation to the state, pending approval by the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission. Hawai`i BioEnergy will ramp up production of sustainable fuels within five years of regulatory approval, allowing Alaska Airlines to begin procuring sustainable jet fuel for its Hawaii flights possibly as soon as fall 2018.

July 25, 2012 - Hawai`i BioEnergy LLC and others have partnered with the UH-Mānoa’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) on a recently awarded four-year $6 million competitive grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The project will seek to increase Hawai‘i’s energy security by creating locally produced renewable energy through the development of high-yielding biofuel feedstocks that are economically viable and sustainable; to establish advanced local biofuel production processes; and to guide development of an advanced biofuel supply chain.

November 10, 2011 - Boeing and Hawai`i BioEnergy LLC have agreed to collaborate to work on renewable energy sources for creating aviation fuel. Announced on the eve of the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) CEO Summit, the companies will work together to identify biofuel sources and supporting technologies for producing sustainable jet fuel in Hawaii.

September 12, 2011 - Hawaiian Electric Company and Hawai`i BioEnergy LLC have agreed on a contract for a supply of 10 million gallons per year of locally grown and processed biofuel for power generation at Hawaiian Electric's Kahe Generating Station. The contract now goes to the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for review with input from the State Consumer Advocate.
